President's Message |
 |
|
|

This has proven to be a very interesting ski season for us.
Between the weather and the economy, we did not have many ski
trips, but those that we did attend went over well. The summit
in January celebrated the 35th anniversary of the NBS and was
a fabulous event. We had to move Winter Carnival from MKL weekend to February this year, that created some
challenges, however, the trip still turned out great.
I think that our most successful and most meaningful trip was
our learn to ski trip in February, in which we brought 32 kids
up to the mountains. This trip reminded me that this is what
the SnowBusters is truly all about; Changing life's by
exposing our people to something different and letting them
experience the joys of skiing and snowboarding.
All of the trips would not have been successful if it were not
for the hard work and dedication of the trip leaders and volunteers that give
so much of themselves to insure that everyone had a great
time. I would personally like to thank each and everyone
that helped with our trips and fundraisers this past season.
Our Club elections will take place next month at our May
meeting. I would encourage you to get more involved in your
club and help shape the future of this organization. If
you have leadership skills and enjoy making things happen,
please consider joining the SnowBusters Executive Board. Make
sure that you contact Rick O'Riley with your nominations. See
the article below for more details.
It is now spring and time to start looking forward to summer
activities. Please take time to look at our schedule of
upcoming events. We have several trips and some Free
events scheduled for you this summer. Please mark your
calendar now so that you won't miss any of the fun.
Ski Ya,
Jerry

Something to Reflect On
How often have we wondered what is life
about, what is, the purpose, what’s important, what matters. We
have a great moment with the birth of our children. From then on,
things begin to get bland and hazy. A Love/Lover brings forth
some sunlight, purpose. Without deep breathing, renewals and
gratitude we kind of accept this lifeless existence again.
Existing. ‘WHY?’ Existing is just that –
Existing. What about living, breathing deeply and enjoy the whole
self with all the joy and issues it may have.
Existing is passive. Nothing on our planet
is just for Existing. All has a purpose.
WE, the ultimate creature on earth, what’s
our purpose?
We shouldn’t have to wait to experience death
to know/understand what life is about.
Perhaps the answer is somewhere inside of us.
Rather than trust that gut feeling, we play
it safe. EXIST?

2009 NBS Summit |
 |
 |

January 31st -
February 7th
2009
Join SnowBusters and the NBS in Snowmass, Colorado, January 31
- February 7, 2009. You will
experience the excitement and
camaraderie that is guaranteed when skiers and riders come
together at the annual NBS
event.
Come to Snowmass
for a week of first class fun for everyone. Whether
single, couple, or family and regardless of age group and ski or
rider level, you will have a smile on your face when you
experience Snowmass 2009.
What activities can you expect? There will be traditional
events, such as Happy Hours, Picnic on the Hill, and racing.
The NBS is a multigenerational
organization and will have HAPPY HOURS and EVENING
PARTIES targeting different age groups, one for those
whom are under 40 called "Generation Next "
and one for those who are over 40 called "Generations Now and
Then".
You
will have the option of various types of parties with different
types of music, games, and activities. Will there be theme
parties? Yes, some old and some new; without the need to take
extra luggage or exceed recently revised weight restrictions of
airlines. Enjoy a Gospel Show featuring the NBS Choir; a group
of singers volunteering from several clubs across the country.
SnowBusters is currently putting together
a package for your registration
and lodging . Again,
NBS registration helps support the goals of our
organization and entitles you to reduced rates on
lessons, equipment rentals and discounts at many of the shops.
The cost
of this trip and more details will be coming shortly, but start
planning for it now.

SnowBusters
Need your Help
Our club is in the midst of
rebuilding itself. Over the years the SnowBusters have
experienced several changes that have resulted in a decrease in
our participation numbers. We now want to reverse that trend
and see our club grow once again. To make this happen we
will need your help.
Currently we are working on redesigning our website, creating a
public relations campaign, updating our logo, selecting a new club
uniform and developing electronic payment options for our trips
and events. We also want to increase our youth participation
and have more events for those that have not been to the snow.
Throughout the year we would like to have several recreational,
social and cultural activities.
To do all of these this we need you to volunteer your time and
expertise in a variety of areas. Our immediate needs include:
